Old Quebec - What a Way to Kick Things Off!

We set off early this morning to travel across the amazing Pont Pierre-Laporte Bridge into Quebec City from our KOA campsite in St. Nicolas.  (It's not MacG, but as they say, any port in a storm will do!)  As soon as we crossed the St.Lawrence River, we knew the day ahead would be amazing!

If you have never been to Old Quebec, this city is amazing.  Actually, it is EXACTLY what we were told to expect by so many of you, but now that we've been here, take "this place is amazing" and multiply it by about 15!  The architecture, the city scapes, the food, the people - WOW!  With not being able to speak much french, we were worried the language would be a barrier.  When it came to street signs and construction, it absolutely  was, but in the city and around the town any time we interacted with people, everyone was quite accommodating and hospitable!  As soon as we said, "English s'il vous plait", the smile appeared and the english language flowed from anyone we spoke to!  What a relief that was.

We convinced ourselves how well deserving we were to the $60.00+ lunch of 2 burgers & 2 beers this afternoon!  After all, we absolutely deserved it after walking the hilled streets from lower Quebec to Upper Quebec! We were warned, I know!  The Maple Geletto was also well deserved!     :-)   (-:

A word of caution...the next time you complain about the price at the pumps...gas is 139.9 here in Quebec City.  The "Gas Buddy" app is promising gas to be a bit lower in Edmonston, tomorrow's destination, so we reluctantly put some moisture in the tank and hope we can make the trek with what is in the reservoir until we get to Edmonston New Brunswick tomorrow.

Finally, to all our family and friends in the "education" sector, Ken and I wish you happy returns tomorrow.  We know you are all creasing those pleat lines and starching those shirts to present yourself to your students with the flare you always do!  To all our followers venturing into the next chapter of post secondary (not to name drop, but Leah, Maggie and Silvie in particular), welcome to your world of independence and financial strain!  Just think, these are the best days of your lives!  And to the young'ins, summer vacation is only 10 months away.  Go learn something and get smart!  Maybe learn a new language, like french...ya never know when you might need it!

Chat with you soon from New Brunswick!  Our third Province in as many days!  The journey is to take us up the coast of St. Lawrence.  A site I doubt I will ever tire of.

Salute!
